Thanks to the generous support of area businesses and members of the local community, the Autism MVP Foundation raised more than $21,000 at its fourth annual “Brewing Awareness for Autism” on Friday, April 26.

Food, drink, dancing and live music from classic rock cover band King’s Highway kept the energy up all night long at the Salt Creek Grille in Rumson. The night’s activities also included great auction items to bid on, including a gallery of photos taken by young students with autism called “Through a Different Lens.”

In addition to all of those who attended or made a donation around the event, the night was made possible by sponsors Circle BMWCircle HyundaiHackensack Meridian Health,  Barger & GainesWegman’s of Ocean and 94.3 FM The Point, as well as a generous donation from Jimmy’s Kids.

All proceeds benefited the Autism MVP Foundation’s initiatives, including the Autism Program Improvement Project and our scholarship program, both with Monmouth University.

Through the foundation’s scholarship program, three graduate students in Monmouth’s School of Education each received $2,500 scholarships in 2018-19.  This year’s recipients were Jennifer Blair, Emily Bloodgood and Joseph Tonetti. Each student is dedicated to pursuing a career to enhance educational, social and daily-life skill outcomes for individuals who have autism.

Our all-volunteer organization is looking to grow both of these programs, so if you could not attend the event but would still like to make a donation, please visit our fundraising page.

Also, be sure to keep an eye out for details on our 5th annual Walk Event, which is set for Sunday, November 3.

Thank you for your interest and support!
